About the artwork

Artist: William "Bill" Pajaud was a New Orleans-born painter and printmaker who later became a prominent figure in the Los Angeles art scene. Known for his expressive watercolors and keen eye for community life, his works often reflected his experiences with jazz funerals and urban street scenes. Pajaud was also a respected curator and was instrumental in developing a major collection of African American art for the Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company.
